For those of you who are looking forward to the annual Arkansas Valley Audubon birding field trip to the Wet Mountain Valley (Westcliffe, Custer County), mark your calendars for Saturday, August 17. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. in the large graveled parking lot on the south shore of Lake DeWeese. To reach the spot, drive to downtown Westcliffe [urbanites will be excused for laughing] and take CO highway 69 north to the edge of town, and turn right on the paved road (signed) to the lake. Continue about four miles to a group of summer cabins and follow the paved road until you arrive at the parking lot. Feel free to contact me for more info.
