On Sunday, I saw a pallid gull that superficially resembled the gull photographed by David. It sounds like the bird some others have seen, being smaller and longer winged than nearby Herring Gulls and is undoubtedly a Thayer's.
The bird photographed by David looks to me to be a fairly typical GW x Herring Gull
