Horned Lark (100's)
Lapland Longspur (several)
McCown's Longspur (1 winter m)

Between US287 and Carrizo Picnic Area along Baca CR M
Loggerhead Shrike (1)
Chihuahuan Raven (at least 4)

Carrizo Picnic Area s of Rd M about 22 miles w of US287
Sage Thrasher (1 eating one-seed juniper berries)
Mountain Bluebird (several)
Townsend's Solitaire (3)
Pine Siskin (2)
Western Scrub-Jay (few)

Cottonwood Canyon (s of Rd M)
Spotted Towhee (few)
Western Scrub-Jay (several)
Wild Turkey (roadkill and tracks)
Ladderbacked Woodpecker (feeding on Banded Elm Bark Beetles (from China) in Siberian Elm) - how in the hell did either the beetle or the tree get there?
(no Greater Roadrunner, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, Bewick's Wren, Canyon Towhee, or Juniper Titmouse)

Several ravens seen today (6 along Highway 287 s of Lamar, a few s of Springfield, a few w of 287  - suspect most were Chihuahuans, perhaps a few, especially in Carrizo and Cottonwood Canyons, were probably Commons)

Many parts of Baca County received about 6 inches of rain in all of 2012.  Check the definition of "desert".  This part of Colorado is hurting, bigtime.
