Greetings All
I had the pleasure of spending the weekend circling n-cen Colorado in search of redpolls and such. We started yesterday at Ft Collins Museum of Discovery, with about 125 Common Redpolls and 4 HOARIES, 2 males and 2 females. One of each sex seemed new, and one of each seemed to be birds Rachel Hopper or i had seen before. We then saw the Bohemian Waxwings Rachel so nicely found for us near her home
At the Moose Visitor Center in Jackson, we had a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and few sweet Pine Grosbeaks
In Walden, we had 100 or so more redpolls including 1 more photographed HOARY REDPOLL at feeders in town.
This morning, around the town of Kremmling, we had at least three more HOARY REDPOLLS (2 male, 1 female, photographed) along with 200+ Commons. Also, all 4 of the Colorado types of rosy-finch were present.
At Silverthorne, in the Wildernest area, we had Pine Grosbeaks, 70 or so Common Redpolls, a probable Hoary, and all four rosy-finches (Black, Hepburn, GC, BC).
At Blunn Reservoir in Arvada, we had a G White-fronted Goose and a Greater Scaup
At Valmont, the aforementioned GW GULL, 2 LBB GULLS, and at least 6 THAYER'S GULLS. Plus--- a CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR. The pelican and 12 TUNDRA SWANS remain as well
Good Birding
