COBirders,
I wanted to update you on plans for this year’s annual CFO Convention in Cortez, May 16-19. Due to some new developments, we have changed venues for our convention home base from Holiday Inn Suites to Baymont Inn and Suites, about a block away. Baymont may save you over $100 on hotel costs at the convention.
You get a discount on convention registration if you are CFO member. Not sure if your membership is up to date? Well it is if you just got your most recent issue of the CFO’s Journal—Colorado Birds. Or you can check online at CFO Business/Members. Login. http://cfobirds.org/business/members.php
As usual, the convention will feature spectacular scenery, excellent birding, and fine camaraderie. We've planned some great field trips throughout the four counties of southwest Colorado, featuring various habitats of mountains, tundra, Ponderosa pine forests, desert country, canyonlands, and Anasazi ruins. Plus we are delighted to have Colorado’s own John Vanderpoel as our banquet speaker on Saturday night for a presentation of his 2011 Big Year, which has been getting standing ovations. In addition we are planning paper sessions, the ID Challenge and a Thursday evening welcome picnic for you. Registration should be set to start in mid-February, so stay tuned.
