Adams County:
-- On January 21, Goulart reported the small flock of Rusty Blackbirds continues to be seen on the South Platte River in the vicinity of the I-76 bridge; if not here, look upstream - they have been found as far upstream as the sewage plant outflow near Sand Creek. Goulart also reported 2 White Pelicans on the river near the I-76 bridge on the 21st. The pelicans were seen again on the 22nd. Gent reported 1 male and 3 female Barrow's Goldeneyes on the S. Platte between 78th and 88th (opposite the green & white water tank) on the 20th.
Arapahoe County:
--Two Long-tailed Ducks and a Common Loon were still present on South Platte Reservoir (signed entrance is on Platte Canyon Rd. north of C-470) on January 25. Five Greater Scaup were on the small lake ("Blackrock Lake") between South Platte Reservoir and the Platte River in South Platte Park on the 25th. A Swamp Sparrow was found by Henwood and Raker on the 25th along the So. Platte about 100 yds. (estimated) downstream (north) from the east-most parking area here near an island in the river.
Boulder County:
--On January 12, Thomas Heinrich reported the Northern Cardinal in his yard near the intersection of 3rd and Forest. You can call him at (303) 475-0465 for information.
--On January 13, Guarente reported that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and a Harris's Sparrow continue on the Teller Farms Trail. There have been no recent reports of either sparrow.
--Kaempfer reports a 1st cycle GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL at Teller Lake #5 on January 24, On January 18, Vanderpoel reported a 1st cycle Great Black-backed Gull at Teller Lake #5 and on Jan. 20, Sanders reported an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull here.
Delta County:
--On January 16, Beason reported 42 Bohemian Waxwings in his yard in Paonia.
El Paso County:
--On January 13, multiple observers report the ACORN WOODPECKER continues in SW Colorado Springs in the 1804 - 1810 section of Cheyenne Blvd. It was seen again on the 19th.
Jefferson County:
-- Erthal reported a Marsh Wren and a Swamp Sparrow seen in the Wheatridge Greenbelt on Jan. 22. Both birds were seen in the marsh at the southwest corner of Bass Lake near the end of the boardwalk.
-- The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by Henwood on Nov. 26, continues to be seen at least through January 24.
--On January 22, Santangelo reports about 8 Common Redpolls, first reported on the 14th, are still coming to his feeder in Wheatridge. His address is: 3525 Estes St. (two blocks north of Crown Hill Lake and two blocks south of 38th Ave). You may park in front of the driveway but please do not park in the driveway and please stay in your car to observe the Redpolls.
--On January 18, Rhodes reports 4 Common Redpolls at her feeder in Hiwan Hills.
Garfield County:
--On January 18, Filby reported 145 Barrow's Goldeneye at Coryell Ranch in Carbondale.
Grand County:
--On January 18, Filby reported that in Kremmling the feeders in the 900 block of Eagle had 100 Common Redpolls. 60+ Rosy-Finches of all three species were present.
Larimer County:
--On January 17, Sparks reported 3 possible HOARY REDPOLLs and 104 Common Redpolls behind the Discovery Museum in Ft. Collins, located at Cherry and Mason St which is the NW corner of College and Cherry. Multiple observers have seen HOARY REDPOLL at this location since December 23 when Komar photographed Redpolls here. On January 22, Hopper reports at least 100 Common Redpolls still present at this location.
--On January 18, Shenot had a flock of 24 Common Redpolls at the Community Church feeders in Livermore.
-- Reyes reports the two Trumpeter Swans continue to be seen on Lower Hoffman Lake, Loveland, seen on Jan. 23.
Mesa County:
--On January 14, Dexter reported 8 Common Redpoll at feeders just east of the intersection of CO-65 and Mesa County KE Rd about 1/4 mile from the intersection. The feeders are on the north side of the road. Look for a white trailer with blue trim. The feeders are on the west side of the trailer and easy to view from KE Rd.
Pueblo County:
--On January 16, Nelson reported that the Red-throated Loon previously reported by Percival, was seen off Juniper Breaks at Pueblo Reservoir. At the South Marina Komar reported that the Great Black-backed Gull and a 1st-cyc Glaucous Gull continue on January 13.
--On January 16, Nelson reported that the ACORN WOODPECKER is still present at Pueblo Mountain Park near Beulah.
Weld County:
--Kaempfer reported that the Long-tailed Duck, first reported by Mlodinow, continues at Frederick Recreation Area, Frederick on Jan. 21.
--On January 14, Sheeter reported an adult Harris's Sparrow off of CR 52 near Lower Latham Reservoir and a White-throated Sparrow on CR 54.
--On January 15, Schmoker reported a Snow Bunting 0.7 mi. north of Weld Co. Rd. 122 on WCR 45.

Meet the leader at 6:30 am at the Division of Wildlife (DOW), 6060 N. Broadway. Exit I-25 at 58th Av., go west 2 blocks to Broadway, then north 2 blocks to the DOW parking lot on the right. This is a full-day trip - bring water, lunch and snacks.
Sunday, February 3: Chatfield State Park

Meet the leader at 8:00 am at the Kingfisher Bridge trailhead at the south end of the Park where the road crosses the Platte River. This is a half-day trip ending about 1 pm; lunch is optional. Will be walking 2-3 miles on dirt trails. Please register with Paul if you plan to go on this trip.
