All,
This morning I was at CCSP Swim Beach and saw a couple of smallish calidrid sandpipers. They both seemed to pump their tails a lot. I don't remember that kind of behavior (I really just don't remember — it's been a long time since I've seen some!)
Is that characteristic of calidrids in general, or of just one species? Or were they just trying to maintain their balance?
Thanks!
