[cobirds] Bird Conservancy Banding Report - Chatfield Station, 4/28/19

Another typical early spring weekend day, with a nice mix if small number of birds.  Our female Bushtit (first bird banded this season) who seemed so devoted to the male with her that day was recaught today with another guy; don't know what that's about.  The Towhees have started to move down periodically; caught two today, one banded in 2017.  Here's the breakdown of the 12 new for the morning:

Bushtit 1
Hermit Thrush (FOS) 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Myrtle 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon 2
Wilson's Warbler 1
Spotted Towhee 1 new, 1 banded 2017
Song Sparrow 2
Lincoln's Sparrow 1

We will be open daily, WEATHER PERMITTING, through May 31, except for May 10-11 and 27.  We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy. Registration is required for all weekend visitors; see the Denver Audubon website to sign up. Individuals may visit weekdays without registering before the school groups arrive, which is usually around 10 a.m.

Come visit!
