I took my CFO trip group to chase the vermilion flycatcher after birding out Barr Lake. I spotted the vermilion north of the usual pond it's been frequenting. He's perching on mullein and moving constantly around the prairie dog town. Managed to get the whole group on it.

I visited First Creek in between the rain this morning and into the very early afternoon. I was walking quickly so I am sure I missed a lot, but a few of the notable birds have lingered into the weekend. Some of them are listed below. RMA = RMA @ First Creek Trail and DOS = First Creek @ Denver Open Space:--Northern Mockingbird - 2 - RMA and DOS Both birds flew across Buckley Road. One is hanging out in the shrike tree, which is the first one you see on the Adams side as you leave the parking lot and start walking up the road. The second was in its usual spot just south of 64th, the dirt road leading to the pond that is in the Arsenal side.Loggerhead Shrike - 2 - RMACassin's Kingbird - DOS By the stablesAmerican Restart - DOS Between Buckley and PenaVermillion Flycatcher - RMA AND DOS This was a new development. The flycatcher moved from the pond to Buckley Road just south of 64th. This is where the mockingbird is, and it was the call of the mockingbird that made me look and see the flycatcher. Both birds moved across the road getting on both counties, but the mockingbird stayed mostly in Denver and the flycatcher stayed mostly in Adams.John BreitschDenver, Colorado
