Highlight of the day was a pair of American Redstarts - adult male and female - in the net together. Great photo op! Here's the breakdown of the day:
Western Wood-pewee 1
Dusky Flycatcher 1
House Wren 1
Gray Catbird 4 new, 1 banded 2017
Cedar Waxwing 1
Yellow Warbler 2
American Redstart 2
Common Yellowthroat 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 2
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Lesser Goldfinch 1 (green-backed)
May, except for Memorial Day. We open nets about 6:30 and close around
noon. If you would like to visit on a weekend, you must pre-register - go
to the Audubon Society of Greater Denver website. Perhaps the best time for
birders to visit is early in the morning during the week - fewer people and
more birds! (School groups arrive each day between 10:00 and 10:30.)
