Re: [cobirds] Re: Golden-crowned Warbler - hmmm

Rebecca Laroche and I were the ones who you talked to at 5:30. We dipped on GC and the Canada but had some nice birds. Turns out we were not focusing on the right place  (i. e. W of road, N of house).    That big black storm went north of us but we had a most remarkable light show heading home across the prairie from 7-9.  Maybe??? inspired to try again.

The GOLDEN-CROWNED WARBLER was seen this morning, 24 May 2018, according to this e-bird report.  https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S45981319

Hopefully we'll here exactly where the bird was seen today, I'm guessing the usual chokecherry patch west of County Road 9, North of the house.

We were the ones that were there from around 1 to 5 yesterday. We didn't see him after you left. A pair of women in a car asked us where the golden-crowned warbler stakeout was when we were leaving (stopped on GG between 9 and 6 watching some burrowing owls and some sort of grouse I haven't ID'd yet). We directed them to the ranch (that was around 5:30). It started to rain soon after that.

A man from California was there for a lot of that time and was coming back this morning at 6am to see if he had better luck.

We'll be updating ebird with photos today.

Apparently the bird was seen at 12:45 today, by some folks who stayed the rest of the afternoon, but when I left at 4:30, it hadn't been seen since then. Perhaps someone will report it later today.

The chokecherry blossoms have died back a great deal, but it was also terribly windy out there today. Either reason could be keeping it away/hidden.

Good luck to any who venture out tomorrow.
