All,
A very cooperative Wood Thrush was at the Chico Basin Ranch/RMBO banding station (fee) for most of the morning and seen by at least John Drummond/Richard Bunn who slip/slided away in the mud to get there (the rest of the Chico roads not recommended). Also, of interest was a bird singing what I call the secondary song of a Mourning Warbler, responding to a tape of that species with both song and call notes. But, this bird, banded on Monday, has a few white eye-area feathers, but they are only visible when the bird is in the hand. Not ruling out a …. H… y…b…Can’t say that word. My FOS Olive-sided Flycatcher and a young bobcat too, plus many Catharus thrushes.
At Big Johnson Reservoir (ELP) a few Red-necked Phalaropes and lots of Black Terns, plus a large mixed species Spizella sparrow flock and tons of swallows.
