My little feeder birds have been hunted the past week by a Sharp-shinned Hawk on the 11th and a Cooper’s Hawk and a Northern Shrike on the 16th. I suspect the adult sharpie might be the same one what hung out in my locust tree all last winter, Nov-Feb. The Cooper’s has already devoured a rock pigeon in the neighborhood! And the Northern Shrike is a new yard bird! A lovely and patient hunter! I still have 2-4 Lesser Goldfinches coming to my thistle feeders.
