Tim Smart and I started local and then worked our way eastward on this most pleasant Sunday. Highlights are summarized below.
-- Coal Creek Canyon (Boulder Co.):
good views of the Magnificent Hummingbird perched on bushes and trees (thanks Adam!)
Barr Lake (Adams Co.):
MEW GULL (juvenile/first winter)
Thayer's gull (juvenile/first winter)
Lesser Black-backed Gull (adult)
Prairie Falcon (yellow band with number 52 on it)
several thousand geese, the majority Cackling, but also including over a dozen Snow and one Greater White-fronted
Jackson Reservoir (Morgan Co.):
GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL (adult)
Lesser Black-backed Gulls (2 adults)
Pacific Loon (presumably the one that Gwen and Bill found a while ago)
unfortunately, no scoters or other loons found
Brush State Wildlife Area (Morgan Co.):
Red-bellied Woodpecker
White-breasted Nuthatches, including Rocky Mountain and Eastern (Carolina)
lots of juncos, including White-winged plus at least one hybrid
