I birded around Loveland, Fort Collins and Wellington (all in Larimer County) over the weekend, with a foray into Weld County at Black Hollow Reservoir north of Hwy 14. Highlights were:
Houts Res (Sat) - Brant continues with 3 companion Canada Geese. Lots of other waterfowl at this location.
Horseshoe Lake (Sat) - Hundreds of birds on east side, including 40 lingering Am. White Pelicans, 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls, and 3 immature Thayer's Gulls, 115 Herring Gulls.
Boyd Lake (north half) (Sat) - Common Loons (2) and Tundra Swans (2)
Horse farm south of Cattail Pond (Sat) - 50 Great-tailed Grackles
Sunrise Ranch (Sat) - 30 Wild Turkeys
Horsetooth Reservoir south end (Sat) - 117 Pinyon Jays, 1 imm (2nd cycle) Thayer's Gull, 3 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls
Fort Collins Discovery Museum (Sun) - Eastern Screech-Owl sunning itself
Black Hollow Res (Sun) - Lesser Black-backed Gull (2 imm.), Northern Shrike, Prairie Falcon, Common Loon, Red-breasted Merganser
North Poudre Res #3, west of Wellington (Sun) - Red-necked Grebe (1 ad.), 40 Sandhill Cranes (flew northwest at dusk)
