--A Prothonotary Warbler was reported by Hudak at Centennial Park on November 22. The Prothonotary Warbler was reported by Stachowiak, Teuton, and Breitsch on November 23. Stachowiak also reported a Swamp Sparrow at Centennial Park on November 23 and Kibbe reported 2 Swamp Sparrows on November 23. On November 24, Deininger and m.o.b. saw the Prothonotary Warbler at Centennial Park. On November 25, Minner-lee reported that the Prothonotary Warbler continues at Centennial Park. On November 26, Kilpatrick and Brown reported that the Prothonotary Warbler continues at Centennial Park. On November 27, Kibbe and m.o.b. saw the Prothonotary Warbler at Centennial Park. On November 28, Hudak reported that the Prothonotary Warbler continues at Centenial Park.
--At Aurora Reservoir on November 24, Mlodinow reported 1-st cyc GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL, imm Glaucous Gull, 1-st cyc MEW GULL, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 8 Thayer's Gulls, and 5 Long-tailed Ducks.
BOULDER COUNTY:
--An ad TUNDRA SWAN was reported by Thompson at Walden Ponds in Boulder on November 12 and November 15. On November 24, Rynes reported 2 TUNDRA SWANS at Cottonwood Marsh.
--An ad m White-winged Scoter and 2 TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Dowell at Boulder Reservoir on November 22. On November 26 Minner-lee reported a White-winged Scoter on the N shore of Boulder Reservoir.
--5 TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Blackford at Sombrero Marsh in Boulder on November 25.
--An Ovenbird was reported by Schmoker in his backyard in Longmont on November 21 thru 27 If you would like to try to see it, call Bill at 720-201-5749 for update and directions.
--A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Floyd at Waneka Lake in Lafayette on November 23.
--A f type Long-tailed Duck was reported by Gent on the west side of Terry Lake off of 95th St. on November 23. On November 27 Thompson reported f type Long-tailed Duck at Terry Lake.
--A m Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by DeFonso at Terry Lake on November 24. On November 25, Gent refound the Barrow's Goldeneye at Terry Lake.
CHAFFEE COUNTY:
--3 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Kellner at Ice Pond in Buena Vista on November 24.
DENVER COUNTY:
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Tina Jones at Marston Reservoir on November 26.
EL PASO COUNTY:
--A SWAN was reported by Driscoll at Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs on November 24.
--5 SWANS a sleeping were reported by Bill Maynard at Big Johnson on November 26.
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
--4 ad SWANS were reported by Kibbe on Bowles Reservoir #1 on November 24.
--A Chestnut-sided Warbler was reported by Keithler on the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt where Clear Creek crosses Kipling at the W end of Anderson Park on November 26.
LAKE COUNTY:
--A Surf Scoter was reported by Kellner at Mount Elbert Forebay on November 24.
LARIMER COUNTY:
--A BRANT was reported by Scott Baron at Equalizer Lake near Loveland on October 25. Equalizer Lake is near I-25 and US 34, west of Medical Center of the Rockies. On November 26, Baron reported that the BRANT continues in the SW part of Houts Reservoir and he had a Dunlin on the S shore of Equalizer Lake. On November 26, Kibbe reported 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the south side of Equalizer Lake.
--An ad Red-necked Grebe was reported by Komar at North Poudre Reservoir #3, west of Wellington on November 24.
--4 Common Redpolls were reported by Mlodinow on the N side of Lake Loveland on top of a spruce on November 27.
--At Fossil Creek Reservoir on November 27, Mlodinow reported f Black Scoter and Long-tailed Duck.
--At Timnath Reservoir on November 27, Mlodinow reported Long-tailed Duck and m Barrow's Goldeneye.
--At the Larimer County Landfill on November 27, Komar reported 2 ad Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
--At Horseshoe Lake in Loveland on November 27, Komar reported 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (2 ad, 1 1-st cyc) and a possible VEGA GULL.
MESA COUNTY:
--On November 28, Dexter reported a Worm-eating Warbler at the Wilson Residence in Grand Junction. Birders
are welcome to try to see the bird at 346 South Redlands Road.
PARK COUNTY:
--A Pacific Loon was reported by Kellner at Eleven Mile Reservoir on November 24.
--A Red-necked Grebe and ad m Long-tailed Duck was reported by Kellner at Spinney Mountain Reservoir on November 24.
PUEBLO COUNTY:
--A f Black Scoter was reported by Silverman at Lake Beckwith in Colorado City on November 22. On November 26, Silverman reported 2 Black Scoters at Lake Beckwith. On November 24, Silverman reported a 1-st winter Harris's Sparrow below the dam at Lake Beckwith.
--On November 27 at Pueblo Reservoir, Percival reported Red-necked Grebe, Pacific Loon, and Long-tailed Duck off the Sailboard Launch Area and below the dam near the footbridge by Snakeskin Picnic Area Percival reported 10 Rusty Blackbirds.
--2 f type Black Scoters were reported by Percival at the farthest east pond along Goodnight River Trail in Pueblo on November 24. Easiest access is from Pueblo Nature Center parking lot ($3 parking fee).
--Percival reported that the Tennessee Warbler continues at Pueblo City Park thru November 27.
--A pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes was reported by Clawges on the Arkansas River east of where Reservoir Drive comes down to the river on November 24.
--An ad GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported by Percival at the South Shore Marina of Pueblo Reservoir on November 26. On November 27, Percival reported ad GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL and ad Lesser Black-backed Gull at the South Shore Marina tires of Pueblo Reservoir.
SEDGWICK COUNTY:
--At Jumbo Reservoir on November 28, Dowell reported 1-st cyc Glaucous Gull and 1-st cyc Lesser Black-backed Gull.
SUMMIT COUNTY:
--2 f Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Kellner at Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 24.
WELD COUNTY:
--2 imm Lesser Black-backed Gulls were reported by Komar at Black Hollow Reservoir on November 24.
--A RED-THROATED LOON was reported by Mlodinow at Wood Lake E of Severance on November 27.
--At Windsor Reservoir on November 27, Mlodinow reported Swamp Sparrow, Lesser Black-backed Gull and 5 Thayer's Gulls.
DFO Field Trips:
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, November 30 will be to Belmar Historic Park led by Karleen Schofield (303-936-8661). Meet the leader at 0900 at the lake at 800 S. Wadsworth Blvd. at W Ohio Ave. Turn west on Ohio Ave., and go 2 blocks straight ahead into Irongate parking lot and to lake. Bring water and snacks. Trip will finish about 1100. Indoor restrooms will be available at 1000 at the library and the visitor center. This trip is especially good for the novice birder and new members.
The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, December 1 will be the RMBO Annual Barrow's Goldeneye Count to Longmont area Lakes led by Chuck Hundertmark (303-604-0531). Meet the leader at 0800 in the parking lot of Jim Hamm Nature Area, Longmont. From the Denver area, take I-25 north to Exit 240. Drive west on Hwy 119 to County Line Road. Head north on County line Road and look for the nature area on the left just past 17th Ave. Will check Union Reservoir and McIntosh Lake for Barrow's Goldeneyes and other early winter waterfowl. May check other area lakes as time allows. Primarily a driving trip. A long half day. Spotting scopes will be useful. Call or email the leader in advance. email is chundertmark8 ATgmail.com
