[cobirds] Roaring Fork birds Wednesday (including 135 Barrow's Goldeneyes)

Hi all

After the storm...

Pitkin Co:

Today was my last free birding tour of this season at Snowmass Ski-area..

Highlights included

All three species of ROSY-FINCH, some nice PINE GROSBEAKS

and some great powder – it was a cold storm despite the date!

However, that the tundra was pretty buried and not a sign of a ptarmigan anywhere..

Thanks are due to the Aspen Skiing Company for providing the feeders and the bird food for the season. Well done!

However, we missed the USFS Rosy-Finch banding program this season - again

Eagle Co:

Spring Park reservoir, El Jebel this evening ( now 100% ice-free and filling)

Held a few thousand ducks, but not a single swallow. Highlights included:

·         Common Loon 1 alternate plumage

·         Eared Grebe 1 FOS

·         BARROW’S GOLDENEYE at least 135 – maybe more

·         Ring-billed Gull 1 adult

Good birding all
