Late April and/or early May is probably the best time in the spring to look for Painted Redstart in Colorado. The last one in the state, was a one day wonder that quite a few people were able to see, on 25 April 2007 in Canon City, in Fremont County, along the Riverwalk, that Rich Miller found. Last spring, in early May, a Painted Redstart spent a few days in Morton County, Kansas, within 10 miles or so, of Baca County, Colorado.
Joe mentioned the recent rare warblers that have been seen recently in the state, though forgot to mention Palm Warbler that was photographed on Sunday (so far I've heard of one Tennessee, one Palm, and two Blackpolls (one yesterday in Lincoln County and the one today). I would think there should be some Northern Parulas, Black-and-white, Hooded, and other warblers around very soon.
Good warbler searching!
