met Rebecca Bracket, who had seen a Painted Redstart there 3 days ago.
She has visited the site daily since then without seeing it again.
Vic searched for the bird without success. He noted that the habitat consisted
of only a few trees - not likely to entice this mega-rarity to stick around.
He is convinced that her ID was correct, based on a thorough discussion
about what she saw and how she was able to rule out similar species. Hopefully
she will submit a report to the Colorado Bird Record Committee.
So, the good news is that, thanks to Vic, we do not need to hustle over
there tomorrow.
Some good warblers have been seen lately (Tennessee,
Painted Redstart, Blackpoll Warbler), so what will be found next?
Good luck!
Joe Roller,
Denver
