[cobirds] Buteo at Coors Field last night

COBirders--  Thanks to those who responded to my query about the hawk I.D. at Coors Field.  All indicated it was a Red-tailed.  That’s what I thought, too, when it was first shown flying around the venue.  The head and scapulars looked right for RTHA.  But when it perched and the cameraman focused in on a nice close-up of the front I saw that the bird was heavily streaked—similar to a Broad-winged—except for the large clear, light tan plumage on the breast and belly.  Two of the commentaries I received mentioned a breast/belly band which I did not see at all even though I looked for it.  The solid light tan or cream colored breast and belly and the heavy streaking are what confused me.  I only realized this morning that I could have started recording the telecast for future reference, but alas I didn’t.
