Hi cobirders. Bushtits, about ten or twelve stayed around the feeders and choke-cherry tree. They seem to be finding something minute to eat with their tiny beaks.
the sparrow size bird that showed up a few days ago I got a good look at in the feeder tray brown with thin white wing bars a touch of red on forehead also had
small yellow beak was a juvenile Common Redpoll. It was joined by 2 females and one male Common Redpolls. Another yard year bird for me.
About 7 or 8 inches of snow and still snowing most of the morning , Oregon and Gray Headed Juncos hung around 24 degrees at one o'clock and calm.
The 25 or more House Sparrows stayed home in the lilacs at back of yard. Out front along the edge of the road was a line of 15 Eurasian Collared Doves.
Birding is good when snowed in.
