Hi all,
We had a successful Pueblo CBC today. We had 19 observes in 9-10 parties during the morning hours, and a few parties out the rest of the afternoon. Also, one party went owling form midnight to 3am, not sure how those people are still awake!
The weather was very nice in the morning, no wind at all. The lack of wind helped the excellent teams find at least 105 bird species in the Pueblo CBC circle today (this is very good total, since the count has only reached 100 species a few times). A huge thanks to all the people were able to come today (many from far away, none of the 19 people live in the Pueblo CBC circle, so we all had to travel at least a little to get out there). The bodies of water in the circle, had mostly open water, which helped with the waterfowl list. I will enter the final numbers, when I get them and they will be on the CBC Website as soon as possible (hopefully in a couple days).
A few interesting birds were found at public locations -- listed below (this circle also has a couple of private property locations, that we are able to get into on Count Day).
Sora - 1 in the Vineland area
Thayer's Gull - 1 juvenile South Road pond
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 adult South Road Pond (also one on private property)
White-winged Dove - 4 in Blende
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1 in Blende (only 2nd time for count)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1 adult at Roselawn Cemetery n Blende
Say's Phoebe - An amazing 11 at least were found!!
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1 at Runyon Lake
Rusty Blackbird - 2 in Vineland
Common Grackle - 1 in Blende
