Black-billed Cuckoo still here!!! Was seen earlier this evening by myself, Mark Peterson and his some Wyatt. Wyatt is the youngest birder we have ever had visit our yard
We do welcome visitors to our yard, however, there are a couple of caveats:
We do request advance notice for a couple of reasons:
a) Paul's aging parents live next right next door and become agitated if someone they do not know enters the yard while we are not here. Paul's Dad used to confront folks and ask what they were doing as he cannot get out anymore we don't want to worry him.
b) We have a large Boxer named Scooter. The only time he is left to his own devices in the yard is first thing in the morning. Scooter is very friendly, but he is a watch dog and takes very seriously his job to announce and greet visitors. Due to recent rains the grass on our acreage has gotten completely out of control. It is almost waist high. If he comes charging through the grass barking his fool head off, you might not be able to see him coming! Again....anyone who has visited our place can attest to his friendliness, just do not want someone having a heart attack when he lumbers up to them!
c) As the yard is so overgrown you might want to wear long sleeves and pants to protect against Mosquitos, and proper shoes.
We would like to give folks the chance to see or hear the Black-billed Cuckoo as we think he is pretty darned special!
