Birders,
I decided to stick around Salida on Sunday night after the Convention so I could drive back home with a co-worker today. I didn't have a hotel room, so I drove out to some Forest Service land on the way out to the Mt. Shavano Trailhead to spend the night. When I got up this morning, I soon heard the distinct song of a GRACE'S WARBLER south of my campsite. I tracked the bird down in a small grove of Ponderosa Pine trees among the predominantly Pinyon-Juniper habitat. There aren't any records for GRWA in Chaffee County on eBird, so I'd be curious to know if anyone else has seen them in the region before.
Some details on the sighting are in my eBird checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S23832506
And an audio recording made with my cell phone: https://soundcloud.com/christian-nunes-9/graces-warbler-cr-205-chaffee-county-colorado-june-8-2015
I'm sorry I didn't find it during a field trip!
Thanks,
Christian Nunes
