[cobirds] Results of Rawhide Power Station CBC, Larimer County

More than a dozen hardy souls ignored dire weather forecasts and tackled their territories at and around the Rawhide Power Station today.  The storm held off just long enough for most to finish covering their count areas, but by 1 PM a total whiteout of blowing snow made birding impossible and driving dangerous.  Longtime participants have learned to accept (some would argue expect) such adverse conditions and the compiler is in awe of their perseverance year after year.

This year 66 species were recorded including Northern Goshawk (which showed amazing agility capturing an American Robin in front of one team's car), Merlin, California Gull, Wilson's Snipe, Canyon Wren, Lapland Longspur, Snow Bunting, Gray-crowned Rosy-finch, and first count records of Brown-capped Rosy-finch and Purple Finch.  Thanks to all who participated!
