[cobirds] Woodcock Still There (1/20/15 @12:50PM)

Hi All,

At 9:45AM there were a few birders present where the AMERICAN WOODCOCK had been seen. None of us had luck re-finding it. That being the case, I went to Loveland and birded around the Civic Center which is about 0.4 miles south of where the possible PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen. The only bird there of any note was a Red-Breasted Nuthatch. So, I started toward Longmont when I received a text message from Brandon Percival saying the Woodcock was just re-found. So, I turned around and arrived back at Bobcat about 12:40PM.

The Woodcock was closer to the second house up the road from the ranger house. There is a bend in the creek toward the north. The Woodcock was down at the creek about 20 feet back from the start of the bend probing for worms or other food. It can be seen from the road or just inside the fence. Other birders who were there observed this rare bird.

The Woodcock was pretty much staying in one spot.

Thank You to all who found this bird and to those who helped others see it!
