[cobirds] Roaring Fork update

Hi all

Our HARRIS’S SPARROW and PINYON JAYS continue to visit our yard, today, Wednesday, as well as several CASSIN’S FINCHES

Yesterday, Tuesday, I did my last free bird tour of this month at Snowmass ski area, and a small but enthusiastic group revelled in all three species of ROSY FINCH at Sam’s Knob feeders, and at one point the flock, in excess of 250 birds, was chased by a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK. We also visited both other feeders on the mountain (cudos and thanks to Aspen ski-co for providing and filling this feeders all winter!). Species included PINE GROSBEAK, GRAY and STELLER’S JAYS, HAIRY WOODPECKER, PINE SISKIN, MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE and COMMON RAVEN, as well as PINE SQUIRRELS.

Later, downvalley around Carbondale, highlights included BALD EAGLES and GREAT HORNED OWL, as well as scores of MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS

Meanwhile I have continued to edit and upload more pics, INCLUDING BIRDS, from my recent very successful SNOW LEOPARD trip..

and I press ahead with plans for another Snow Leopard trip for anyone who wishes to join me in Feb/March 2015
