Aaron Shipe and I counted birds in parts of Canon City for the Penrose CBC this morning. In our area, we saw a male Williamson's Sapsucker at Lakeside Cemetery, and a male and female Williamson's Sapsuckers and a White-winged Dove at Rouse Park (Park Ave and Linden Ave.). Aaron found a daytime roosting Western Screech-Owl in Canon City as well.
In the afternoon, I photographed the Hammond's Flycatcher, found by Bill and Dan Maynard in Canon City, on the Penrose CBC. I believe this is the first empidonax flycatcher to be found on a Colorado CBC! Great find guys! Photos of this bird can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/brandonsbirdphotos/
