We will meet at 7 AM at the Visitor Center, gather and bird/walk to the banding station approximately ¼ mile from the parking lot. All walking in the initial part of the trip is on even flat surfaces. We will spend an hour 7:30 to 8:30 at the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies banding station observing the banding process with Banding Coordinator Meredith McBurney. There will be the opportunity to observe birds in the hand and perhaps release birds after the banding process. We will walk around the netting area to observe the netting process. From the station we will walk along the dike observing riparian birds and if there are birds along the shore we will walk out to the edge of the reservoir. That walk will be on flat but somewhat irregular surface of the dried lake bed. Scopes are suggested. It is likely to be cool in the morning so bring layers. Sneakers are usually adequate for this walk.
