[cobirds] Re: Team Seymour Butterbutts?

Picking your team name can definitely be part of the fun of the Colorado Birding Challenge. With 19 teams registered there's been a lot of creativity so far. I liked "The Cuckoo Cuckoos". For my Logan County team, I went with the Hybrid Zone Orioles. The South Platte River through Logan County is in the heart of the zone where Baltimore Orioles and Bullock's Orioles meet, often resulting in hybrid birds. Part of our challenge May 7 will be finding these intriguing birds.

Yes, this could be YOUR team's name for the 2022 Colorado Field Ornithologists' Colorado Birding Challenge, which takes place Saturday, May 7th. Grab 2- 3 friends and sign up now.

There are five categories you can choose from (Green, Big Sit, Automobile, Photo/Audio, Youth, Non-competing) and you can bird anywhere in Colorado.

Whether you chose the Big Sit to bird the full day at your favorite location, or cover multiple hotspots in a county you love, each eBird checklist you and your team create adds to a scientific repository used by thousands of researchers worldwide to understand birds and support their conservation.

Last year 73 teams in this Challenge raised more than $35,000 to benefit two critical conservation projects for Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. This year your team's pledges from friends, family, co-workers, etc will help support habitat restoration of our state's endangered Gunnison Sage-Grouse and other sagebrush obligate species.

So start gathering your team, come up with that team name (I'm going for Team No Egrets) and sign up!

More details, including how to register your team, can be found here: https://cobirds.org/cobc-details/
