RE: [cobirds] Re: Yellow Grosbeak injury (Huerfano Co)

Hi Everyone,

My pictures from around 10 in the morning on Monday show no injury. The later photos I've seen appear to show a stab wound. Lewis's Woodpecker should be viewed as a suspect. They were pretty bossy around the feeders.

Yes it surely does . . . looks also as if the bird has some staining on the upper RIGHT breast (pic on the feeder) . . . as if the bird may have rubbed its bill in that breast area suggesting that it may have picked in the area of its upper right leg.  Appears to be quite a large mat of not-so-dry blood in that area . . . probably not a good sign.

Carolyn Spidle posted photos from today at ~1:30 that show what appears to be blood around the Yellow Grosbeak's right leg. Can anyone confirm this is an injury? Thanks.

The Yellow Grosbeak continues to be seen today in Huerfano County, with many birders seeing it.  Viewing is open until 7pm today.

Tomorrow, viewing will be open from NOON to 7pm.  Don't plan to come before then.  If anything changes, we'll let you know.
