Quick stop this afternoon (Sat., 2 Dec.'17) at Dillon Reservoir (Summit Co., CO) to let the dogs out to stretch at bit; specifically pulled into the Snake River Inlet Trailhead at the junction of HW 6 and Swan Mt. Rd. Wasn't even thinking birding, but noticed some gulls flying around so grabbed the binoculars. Glad I did because just off the point was a nice adult female LONG-TAILED DUCK - definitely a surprise! She was hanging with a couple of female COMMON GOLDENEYE. The reservoir is largely ice free, but hopefully she will hang in that area if you wanted to chase.
Good Birding,
Doug
