Among the thousands of white-cheeked geese on Stearn's Lake this morning were a white Snow Goose, a blue form Snow Goose, and a probable Snow x Canada hybrid. Scoping for a Greater White-fronted Goose proved fruitless, but when I continued a walk around a local trail, geese were leaving the lake in small flocks heading for nearby fields to feed. In one flock, I heard a distinctly different high pitched call among the white-cheekeds. The Greater White-fronted was easy to pick out in the low flying flock.
Also of interest, the local Bald Eagle pair was standing on the nest.
