Hey COBirders,
I haven't posted any banding results lately, because I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary, but I am still working daily at Clear Spring Ranch.
Today, with the upslope, fog, breeze, and dampness, birds were busy moving around the station. 31 banded today, all sparrows.
Spotted Towhees, Gambel's White-crowned, Song, Lincoln's, Chipping Sparrows, and a Pink-sided Junco.
And another milestone was reached - 1000 (now 1007) Chipping Sparrows this season! Whew. Total birds this season - 2165.
Now it seems that the older birds are going through. Previously I was seeing 5:1 hatch year: adult Chipping Sparrows, now it is about 3:1 adults.
More soon,
Steve Brown
