Lots of Yellow-rumpeds this year! We've banded over 100 so far, which is more than any year going back to 2005 (my easily available compiled data). All but 1 have been Audubon's (there have been 2 that showed characteristics suggesting they were intergrades).
-- It would have been a quiet day otherwise, but these late warblers kept us quite busy. Here's the breakdown of the 46 new birds today:
Red-shafted Flicker 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Hermit Thrush 2
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 37
Yellow-rumped Warbler, unidentified 1
Chipping Sparrow 2
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 1
This is our last week! We are CLOSED tomorrow (Wed), then open Thurs through Sun. All dependent on weather, but right now looks like it should be fine. Opening nets about 7 a.m., have birds at the station by about 7:30, closing between 11 and 11:30 most days. We will take down the station on Sun.
