Today Glenn Walbek and I did a quick trip around parts of NECO. We started at the Firestone Gravel Pit (Weld Cnty) and saw 2 of the previously reported Caspian Terns. From there we went to Crow Valley (Weld Cnty) and walked as much as we could considering the high water in the area. The best bird was a singing Yellow-throated Vireo in the SE corner along the fence. At Tamarack Ranch (Logan Cnty) we had the usual suspects along with Great-crested Flycatchers, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Dickcissel and Field Sparrow. At the Akron Golf Course pond (Washington Cnty) we had a female Mourning Warbler in the SE corner. Also there were American Redstart, Northern Waterthrush and a late Wilson's Warbler. Swainson's Thrushes were in abundance at all stops with the high being 60-70 at Crow Valley. All in all not a bad few hours. Migratation isn't over yet!
