I birded with Phil Gerkin and Gene Rutherford from Northern Colorado today in Fremont and Pueblo Counties.
Highlights in Fremont County:
Rufous-crowned Sparrow - 1 and Rock Wren - 1 at Tunnel Drive in Canon City.
Williamson's Sapsucker - 1 ad. male at Centennial Park in Canon City.
Say's Phoebe - 1 along Sell Road in Canon City, west of the pond
Stub-tailed Wren - 1 calling like a Pacific Wren at times, along Canon City Riverwalk, west of 3/4 mile marker, later seen by others, and identified as a Winter Wren
Williamson's Sapsucker - 1 female at Rouse Park (on the 2nd visit)
failed to see a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at Rouse Park and Lakeside Cemetery, I guess I should go look harder one in Pueblo City Park (where there were some in December).
Cassin's Finches and Western Bluebirds at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City
Greater White-fronted Goose - 2 and Snow Goose - 1 at Valco Pond in Canon City
Lewis's Woodpecker - 6 or so in eastern part of Canon City
Black Phoebe - 1 at Florence River Park
Pueblo County birds:
Lesser Goldfinches - 5 in Pueblo West
Red-throated Loon - 1 at Pueblo Reservoir, with Common Loons
White-winged Scoter - 1, Long-tailed Ducks (2f, 1m), Barrow's Goldeneyes at Pueblo Reservoir (thanks to Joey and others who had these birds staked out, when we drove up)
Great Black-backed (1 adult), Lesser Black-backed Gulls (3 adults) at Pueblo Reservoir
I think that's the best stuff,
