[cobirds] E Bluebirds, a pair of G Roadrunners, and a pair of Am Dippers-all near Canon City

I found at least 2 males and a female Eastern Bluebirds on Sunday on private property east of Canon City.  For several years at least one pair of Eastern Bluebirds has nested near Canon City and a few birds are often found during the winter.  I looked for them again and refound them yesterday but not today. I got a couple of good photos of one of the males that I have uploaded to my Birds and Nature blog.

I also had a Northern Harrier working the farmland near the bluebirds, an unusual occurrence near Canon City.

I also found a pair of Greater Roadrunners on Sunday though they were south of Canon City in appropriate cholla cactus grassland. Birds of North America online said that notes that roadrunners are found either singly or in breeding pairs.  It was quite cold that day and one of the roadrunners engaged in sunning behavior that I photographed.  I also got the pair standing near each other and a short video clip of one of them as it moved across the snowy terrain. I looked for them yesterday but did not refind them. Photos and video are up on my Birds and Nature blog.

I also found a pair of American Dippers frequenting an irrigation canal and the Arkansas River east of Canon City (accessible by private property) in  location where there has been either a single or a pair of dippers for the past several winters (and into summer).  I will get photos up tonight on my blog.
