It took a lot of searching and re-searching areas where the Chatfield BRANT had been before and where geese were feeding and loafing today, but I finally saw it this afternoon in the vicinity of the campground host site. That was on my second search of that area of the campground. A SAY'S PHOEBE flew out from the campground 'A Loop' and perched in a tree in the camp area that is south of the main park road. Then it flew off in the direction of the eastern park entrance station. Two Townsend's Solitaires were in same area as the phoebe. The only other species of some note that I saw at Chatfield was a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK which was flying south near the horse corrals.
-- Early in the morning a GREATER WHITE FRONTED GOOSE was on the ice at Cooley Lake with many Canadas and cacklers. I wonder if it was the same that was seen on at least a few occasions in December at other spots not too far from there.
An AMERICAN PIPIT was feeding along the edge of the South Platte near the Carson nature center.
I looked at South Platte Reservoir but the Long-tailed Ducks were not in evidence.
