[cobirds] Notes from Barr Lake, Adams, Broomfield and sw. Weld

Good Morning

Yesterday, I started at Barr Lake. Some 35,000 Cacklers at sunrise, diminishing as 30+ eagles harassed them. By 9 am or so, only 5000 left. Very few Canadas, relatively speaking. About 11 Ross's, 2 Snows, one hybrid Snow x Cackler. No white-fronts.

I also had large numbers of RN Ducks and Common Mergs, but little of interest. Barr Lake is about 50% or more open.

Sienna Ponds in Broomfield had few gulls, and Anthem Ponds are still frozen. I swung around the nearby dump and found ZERO gulls flying about, even near area of apparent active dumping. Something must have changed at that place.

Finally, Frederick was packed with geese again (about 3000; it is a lot smaller than Barr :o), but only 2 Snows and one Snow x Canada being of interest.

Union is still an ice cube and Loomiller Park in Longmont looks as if it might soon freeze over.
