[cobirds] Boulder Stub-tailed Wren

Cobirders,

I have now looked for the wren at the west end of Sawhill Ponds 4 times,
and I'm yet to see or hear it. Also, I can hear nothing on the posted
calls of the bird: probably too old. So, all I can go on are the
photographs. In my opinion, Rachel's very good photos show a fairly
standard plumage of Winter Wren, in agreement with Steve post yesterday.

For a picture of a Pacific Wren, see the excellent article by Leukering
and Pieplow, which was published in the CFO Journal in 2010:

http://cfobirds.org/downloads/In%20the%20Scope/016%20In%20the%20Scope%20Oct%202010.pdf

For even better photos, go the the CFO Records Committee web site:

http://www.coloradobirdrecords.org/

If you don't have a user name, come up with one and a password. Once
inside the site, click on 'Reports from the Data' and 'Create your own
Query'. Scroll down the species and click on 'Pacific Wren', change the
starting date year to 2012, and click on 'Get selected records'. Finally,
click on the camera for the October 12 record from Pueblo, and up will pop
five great photos of this bird taken by Brandon Percival. Unfortunately,
this bird could not be found the next morning by a group of us searching
for it. This new website was activated a few months ago, and is an
excellent mine of information on Colorado birds. Doug Faulkner, Rachel
Hopper and others did a great deal of work to get this website active, and
its development was funded by the CFO.

Cheers, Peter Gent.
