[cobirds] This Thursday - CFO Speaker Series Presentation on Spring Migration

The Colorado Field Ornithologists Speaker Series wraps up for the winter with "A MOVEMENT UNSEEN: BIRD MIGRATION IN ACTION" which will take place Thursday, March 21st from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.

This online presentation is led by Dr. Kyle Horton, one of the core partners for BirdCast, the migration forecasting tool.

Dr. Horton will discuss how his lab uses remote-sensing tools, like radar, to better quantify the number of migrants filling nighttime airspaces, determine where and when migrants are impacted by artificial light, and how these data can be integrated with community science records to better understand migration and forecast movements.

Dr. Kyle Horton is an assistant professor at Colorado State University in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. Kyle received his B.S. in Biology from Canisius College in 2011,  completed his M.S. in Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware in 2013, and Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Oklahoma in 2017. His lab works to weave together a range of tools and approaches, including the use of radar, community science data, and field studies to address conservation challenges. Using these tools,

Kyle's Aeroecology Lab broadly addresses questions related to bird migration and their use of airspace. Kyle and the Aeroecology Lab are one of the core partners in BirdCast.

Get ready for Spring migration by attending this online presentation!
