I took the family snowshoeing up to Guanella Pass, from the road closure to the top of the pass. About half way up we encountered 14 Bohemian Waxwings working through the conifers at about 11,300 feet. Also of interest was a Turkey Vulture high above the pass and several Pine Grosbeaks. We did not find any ptarmigan.
