[cobirds] Nov. 22, Second Breeding Bird Atlas available at Boulder County Audubon's Holiday Sale

Hi all,

Hot off of the presses and much anticipated, Boulder County Audubon is delighted to announce that we have made special arrangements with Lynn Wickersham to have the much awaited publication, The Second Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas, for sale at our annual Holiday Sale, starting at 5 p.m. on the evening of November 22, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 5001 Pennsylvania Avenue, Boulder, CO 80303.

The Second Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas is priced at $75 plus tax, check or cash, and sold at the table with dedicated Atlaser, Steve Jones.  This is a great way to save shipping costs.

I would like to take pre-orders so that Lynn knows how many to send over.  Email me at:  piombino.pam@gmail.com

Later that evening, Bill Schmoker will present, Birding to the Arctic.  We invite you to purchase the Atlas, stay to shop for nature oriented art and books, enjoy holiday cookies and mulled cider and visit with other bird and nature lovers.

Colorado's own Cathy Sheeter, a great birder and fine artist, will offer signed and numbered prints for sale, even though she remains in New Jersey as an artist in residence.  Visit her website to be impressed: www.cathysheeter.com

Thanks and hope to see you at this event,

Pam Piombino

From Lynn:

Breeding Bird Atlases provide data on species distribution, breeding phenology, habitat use, and abundance. When repeated at regular intervals, Atlases can detect changes in these variables over time. Breeding Bird Atlases serve as important components of bird conservation strategies and afford natural resource professionals, academics, educators, naturalists, and birders information with wide-ranging applications. The Second Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas (L. E. Wickersham, Ed.) follows in the footsteps of the landmark achievement Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas (H. E. Kingery, Ed.), published in 1998. The second Atlas provides detailed accounts for over 260 breeding bird species with comparative distribution maps across both Atlases, habitat use and phenology data, and stunning artwork. Breeding bird distribution and status may change over time as a consequence of changes to habitats, land-use, climate, and other factors. This Atlas documents these changes across Colorado better than any other available publication.
