I went to Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland this noon to see what may be about.
I went to the south end viewing area that I used in October to observe the
Pacific loon seen then. I located the group of about 25-30 Western Grebes. In
amongst them was another Pacific Loon. This one was different than the Loon
that was reported in early October. This one has not yet completed its moult to
basic plumage, still having quite a bit of smudgy gray-brown feathering in the
throat. It was last seen sleeping in amongst the Grebes.
I did not see a Red-necked Grebe. I had looked over the southern 1/3 of the lake.
