ARCHULETA COUNTY:
---On May 31, an ad breeding plumaged Red-necked Grebe was reported by Satoko Lincoln at Village Lake Reservoir in Pagosa Springs. On June 4, Ben Bailey reported Red-necked Grebe at Village Lake. This is first county record of Red-necked Grebe for Archuleta County. On June 6, Jim Beatty reported that the Red-necked Grebe continues at Village Lake in Pagosa Springs.
BACA COUNTY:
---On June 4 at Picture Canyon, Dale Adams reported 4 Chihuahuan Ravens, Rufous-crowned Sparrow and a pair of Painted Buntings.
---Painted Buntings were reported by Connie Kogler on May 30 at Picture Canyon.
BENT COUNTY:
---On June 5 a Baltimore Oriole was reported by Mark Miller at CR JJ and CR 20.
BOULDER COUNTY:
---On June 8 a molting juv Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Jack Bushong soaring over Shunk Canyon Trails area in Boulder.
---On June 6 a Scarlet Tanager was reported by Lark Latch at Boulder Valley Ranch on the Sage Trail.
---On June 6 a Canyon Towhee was reported by Kim Mauritz on the South Mesa Trail.
---On June 5 a pair of Bobolinks was reported by Bill Kaempfer on Teller Lake # 5 trail.
CHAFFEE COUNTY:
.--On June 3 a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was found by Jason Beason in Salida on CR 175. This a new bird for Chaffee County.
COSTILLA COUNTY:
---On June 4 an ad WESTERN GULL was reported by Ted Floyd at Smith Reservoir SWA at the south end of the reservoir.
This would be the 5th state record if accepted and a first for Costilla County.
DOUGLAS COUNTY:
---On June 6 a singing Northern Parula was reported by Tim Ryan at Castlewood Canyon SP. The Parula was W of falls.
---On June 4 at Castlewood Canyon Road, Glenn Walbek reported 2 Black-and-white Warblers (1 1-st yr m, 1f) and a singing Northern Parula. On June 6, Jeff Thompson and Karen Metz reported Black-and-white Warbler at Castlewood Canyon SP.
EL PASO COUNTY:
---On June 4, John Drummond reported 5 White-rumped Sandpipers at Ramah Reservoir SWA. On June 6, John Drummond reported 1 White-rumped Sandpiper at Ramah Reservoir SWA.
---On May 26 a basic plumaged Pacific Loon was reported by Mark Peterson at Big Johnson. On May 27 Aaron Driscoll, and Kyle and Caleb Hawley reported Pacific Loon at Big Johnson. On May 28 the Pacific Loon was reported by Mel Goff and several other birders at Big Johnson. On May 29 a Pacific Loon was reported at Big Johnson by David Chartier, Chris Brobin, John Drummond, and Bill Kaempfer. On May 30 a Pacific Loon was reported by Tanja Britton at Big Johnson. On May 31, Alan Versaw reported Pacific Loon and Cassin's Kingbird at Big Johnson. On June 1, Kyle Hawley and Gloria Nikolia reported Pacific Loon at Big Johnson.
On June 8 Pacific Loon was reported b Kyle Hawley at Big Johnson.
GUNNISON COUNTY:
---On June 5 a Cassin's Kingbird was reported by Jason Beason at 10,000 ft elevation in lodgepole pine/conifer habitat near where 209.1B Road intersects Main Road up to Cottonwood Pass. This is an unusual please for this first county record.
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
---On June 6 a Philadelphia Vireo was reported by Matt Clark and Susan Bonfiglio at Corwina Park.
---On June 6 a Wood Thrush was reported by Frank Farrell at Corwina Park by a small pond on the N side of hwy.
---On May 28, 3 m Bobolinks were reported by David Ross in an unmowed filed SE of Apex Center, Aaron Shipe reported 2 Bobolink at Apex, and Mark Chavez reported 2 Bobolink at Ralston Valley Park. On May 30 Norm Lewis reported a Bobolink at Apex Park and Chip Clouse reported a pair of Bobolinks at Apex Park. On May 31, Bobolinks were reported near the Apex Center by Chip Clouse, Pablo Quezada, Craig Rasmussen, Matt Clark, and Susan Bonfiglio. On June 1 Bobolinks were reported near the Apex Center by Doug Kibbe, Joey Angstman, and Betty Glass. On June 2, Gwen Moore reported 2 Bobolink near Apex Center. On June 4, Barry G reported a Bobolink near Apex Center. On June 5, Tamie Bulow reported Bobolink at Apex Center. On June 8, Carig Rasmussen reported 3 Bobolink (2m, 1f) S of Apex Field.
LARIMER COUNTY:
---On June 3 a BAIRD'S SPARROW was reported by Glenn Walbek and Mark Peterson on CR 5 from CR 82 to CR 92.
---On June 3 an imm Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Nick Komar and Brandon Nooner at CSU Environmental Learning Center.
LOGAN COUNTY:
---On June 5 at Tamarack Ranch SWA, Tom Behnfield reported EASTERN TOWHEE, Great Crested Flycatcher, Bell's Vireo, Upland sandpiper, Field Sparrow, and Red-headed Woodpeckers.
---On June 3 at Tamarack Ranch SWA, Steve Mlodinow reported 29 Red-headed Woodpeckers, 8 Red-bellied Woodpeckers, 2 EASTERN WOOD-PEWEES, Least Flycatcher, 6 Great Crested Flycatcher, Cassin's Kingbird, 10 Bell's Vireos, 6 Field Sparrows, 10 Northern Cardinals and 2 Baltimore Orioles.
MESA COUNTY:
---On June 7 a singing Least Flycatcher was reported by Nic Korte in Collbran West.
MONTEZUMA COUNTY:
---On June 3 at Yellowjacket Canyon/G road area, Kathy Mihm Dunning reported Gray Flycatcher, Bewick's Wren, 5 Lucy's Warblers, and 3 Black-throated Sparrows.
OTERO COUNTY:
---On June 3 at Holbrook Reservoir, Dale Adams reported Cassin's Kingbird and Baltimore Oriole.
PROWERS COUNTY:
---On June 5 a Least Flycatcher was reorted by Mark Miller at Lamar Community College Woods.
RIO GRANDE COUNTY:
---On June 5 a m Scarlet Tanager was reported by Casey Setash by the bunkhouse of Monte Vista NWR. This area is not
pubicly accessible. Casey will update tomorrow if the tanager returns and let us know when they will be a the bunkhouse for
a possible visit.
SAGUACHE COUNTY:
---On June 5 a f Scarlet Tanager was reported by Daniel Fleming near US 286 and CR T. This would be a county record for
Saguache if accepted.
SEDGWICK COUNTY:
---On June 3 at Sedgwick Cemetery, Steve Mlodinow reported Red-headed Woodpecker and Baltimore Oriole.
WELD COUNTY:
---On June 6 a m breeding plumaged American Golden Plover and 42 White-rumped Sandpipers were reported by Richard and Christine Sparks at Lower Latham Reservoir.
---On June 6 15 White-rumped Sandpipers were reported by Steve Mlodinow.
---On June 6 a Caspian Tern was reported by Steve Mlodinow at Firestone Gravel Pits.
---On June 5 at Lower Latham Reservoir, 61 White-rumped Sandpipers were reported by Art Hudake, Mark Chavez, and Tom Behnfield. On June 6 Steve Mlodinow reported 60 White-rumped Sandpipers at Lower Latham.
---On June 5 a Bobolink was reported by David Govoni at Hwy 14 and CR 61.
---On June 5 at Crow Valley CG, Robert Beauchamp reported Cassin's Kingbird and Baltimore Oriole.
---On June 5 at a pond on CR 49 south of Latham, Bill Fink reported 15 White-rumped Sandpipers.
---On June 4 at Woods Lake, David Dowell reported Lesser Black-backed Gull and Caspian Tern.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday Jun 12 will be to Cherry Creek SP Wetlands Loop led by Karen von Saltza (kvonsaltza AT yahoo.com; 303-941-4881). Meet at Prairie Loop lot in Cherry Creek SP. State Parks pass or day pass required. This is a half day of walking that passes through most of the important habitats found in the park over a distance of about 3 miles. Trails could be slippery or muddy, so dress accordingly. Bring water and snacks; Lunch is optional. Register online or contact leader.
