I had a nice walk at the Matthews-Reeser Bird Sanctuary and Lake Estes in Estes Park mid to late afternoon today. Highlights were a Broad-winged Hawk soaring over the Lake and another male Common Yellowthroat (to add to the one I saw this morning at the other end of town), both new up here for this year in eBird. Lincoln's Sparrows have arrived in numbers, and I saw single Vesper Sparrow and Chipping Sparrow, lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers, mostly Mytle, good numbers of Spotted Sandpipers, a few Killdeer, a nice Wilson's Snipe in the Sanctuary that scurried away before I could get a photo, a lot of Western Bluebirds on the adjacent golf course, and the resident Bald Eagle and Osprey.
