[cobirds] Bird Conservancy Banding Report - Chatfield, 5/15/16

Had a great day today!  Under mostly grey skies, we banded 57 birds, plus caught 7 banded in prior years.  Highlights were a female Black and White Warbler and a pair of Bullock's Orioles.  Lots of visitors braved the cold to enjoy these 24 species:

Least Flycatcher 2

Dusky Flycatcher 4

Warbling Vireo 1, banded in 2014, and recaptured on this day in 2015

Northern Rough-winged Swallow 1

House Wren 4

Swainson's Thrush 4

Hermit Thrush 1

Gray Catbird 5

Yellow Warbler 2 new, 5 returns (2 from 2012, 1 from 2014, and 2 from 2015)

Black and White Warbler 1

Northern Waterthrush 1

MacGillivray's Warbler 2

Common Yellowthroat 3

Wilson's Warbler 1

Yellow-breasted Chat 3 new, 1 return from 2015

Green-tailed Towhee 2

Spotted Towhee 3

Clay-colored Sparrow 1

Brewer's Sparrow 1 (FOS)

Lincoln's Sparrow 11

White-crowned Sparrow, Mountain 1

Brown-headed Cowbird 1

Bullock's Oriole 2 (FOS)

Lesser Goldfinch 1 (FOS)

Open daily, weather permitting, through June 2, EXCEPT for May 30. It is almost always better to visit early in the morning. We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. There are school groups every weekday, arriving about 9:45. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy.
