Hi, everybody.
Hannah and Andrew are having a wonderful time down here in and around balmy Lamar, Prowers County. Earlier this morning, Friday, Feb. 21, we jaunted up to Thurston Reservoir, northern Prowers County, where a flock of 607 Northern Pintails contained a single drake Cinnamon Teal. Beautiful!
Sandhill Cranes were moving north almost continually. They were waaay up there. Here's a recording of one winging its way north:

The voices in the background are Linda Groat, Greg Miller, Hannah, and especially Andrew... ;-)
We saw hundreds of real Snow Geese and thousands of fake ones. Also a Golden Eagle, a dark-morph Rough-legged Hawk, a few Northern Harriers, and Western Meadowlarks singing from every telephone wire.
And why are we down here? Why, because of the 12th annual High Plains Snow Goose Festival, of course! There's no festival registration fee this year, and there's still room for some events and outings. Get details here: http://www.highplainssnowgoose.com/
Hope to see some of you down here this weekend!
