CO Birders :
As per Brandon's post , the Pomarine Skua !!!! or Jaeger was seen this morning ( by me at 10:30 am ) at Antero Reservoir , Park County , near the southern boat launch area , either along the shoreline or in the short sage grass around the camp sites . An adult light phase morph , the bird is either very tame or ill , resting on the ground or taking short flights along the shoreline. The fishermen have adopted the bird and are feeding it with fish so it is not starving . I think that there may be some damage to the right wing. Photos will be posted shortly to http://www.pbase.com/jxdrummo/coloradobirds_2013 .Also had an Eastern Kingbird at Antero which I believe is a first county record for Park , do I have to write it up Doug ??.
On my way back , I found a Mountain Plover in South Park , inside the quadrant bounded by Park CR 59 , CR 23 , Mineral Springs Road and Chase Gulch Road . You will need a scope to get reasonable views , this is private lands , do not leave the road.
Finally midafternoon , the Tri-colored Heron was still at Holcim Marsh , Fremont County together with a Green Heron . Did not see the Least Bittern but conditions were poor , strong winds thunderstorm on horizon etc .
